IHG donates a Mortuary Cold Chamber at the Police Hospital, Accra to the Ministry of the Interior, Government of Ghana.

As part of IHG’s humanitarian response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, IHG provided a new 112 body cold room contained within the new, part built mortuary at the new Police Hospital site in Accra. This was brought into operation by completing, on a charitable basis, the build, equipping and commissioning of the cold room and dedicated entrance area at the new mortuary site. IHG donated in excess of 600,000 cedis towards this charitable project.

The cold room facility was officially handed over to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), representing the Ministry of Interior on Wednesday 21st October by Chester King, Board Director IHG and also in attendance was the Rt. Hon Mark Simmonds (former UK Minister for Africa).

International Hospitals Group has successfully been awarded three contracts by the Ministry of Health in Oman, for the design, construction and equipping of three state-of-the-art hospitals, to UK NHS and appropriate International standards, across Oman in Khasab, Suwaiq and Salalah.

IHG Hospital Projects in Khasab, Suwaiq and Salalah

These projects highlight the appetite across the world for high quality British standards, healthcare knowledge and expertise, with the UK’s NHS being widely regarded as one of the world’s finest healthcare organisations.

These three projects are a great boost for both the Omani and British economies during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The new projects will support jobs in the UK and Oman throughout the duration of the build, by drawing heavily on the expertise of supply chains in both countries, including Britain’s world renowned specialist knowledge and medical equipment. At peak over 6,000 staff will be employed both in Oman and the UK on the design, construction and equipping of the three projects.
IHG will extend its supply chain from over 70 British companies from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and from across England, during the course of the turnkey design, construction and equipping of all three hospitals and associated infrastructure.

The Omani Government and the British Government have collaborated on these major healthcare projects, by supporting the Project Financing through circa £550 million worth of long-term finance support to the Government of Oman from UK Export Finance – UKEF.

The Rt Hon. Liz Truss, the International Trade Secretary said in a statement:
‘The size of this contract demonstrates the appetite for the UK’s world leading healthcare expertise across the globe. I am delighted UK Export Finance is supporting the construction of these three hospitals which will not only improve healthcare provision in Oman but will also expand IHG’s overseas business. IHG will provide a full design, construction and services package for all three hospitals. Work will also include the construction of emergency power systems, maintenance facilities, roads and other associated infrastructure.’

The three design and build hospital infrastructure projects are currently in design development with permanent works progressing on all three sites covering a total of circa 50 hectares.

Groundbreaking Ceremony for new IHG Hospital in China

On 9th May 2019, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new IHG International Hospital in Hangzhou, China.

This hospital will be Hangzhou’s first hospital with a foreign-funded medical group leading the operations.  As such it will greatly contribute to the provision of high-quality healthcare services in the Hangzhou region.

The groundbreaking ceremony was hosted by Mr. Zhang Wenbo, Director of Xiaoshan Tech City Administration bureau and Mr. Shi Guangyu, Deputy General Manager of Hangzhou Keyi, and Adam Williams, the Vice President of IHG China.

IHG China and Keyi (Hong Kong Land, Yanlord and Transfar) have a long term commitment to deliver an international standard high-level healthcare service and collaborate to create a 200 bed general hospital. The hospital is located in the core area of Xiaoshan Science and Technology City, with an investment of total 940 million RMB.

The IHG International Hospital will have centres of excellence in obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, oncology, orthopedics and mental health. Other services will include family medicine, dentistry, dermatology, internal medicine and more.

The hospital’s patient-centred five star facilities include a wing of 14 VIP suites, 60 spacious single bed rooms, 70 double bed rooms, 8 LDR delivery rooms, 19 post-partum rehab rooms, 6 operating rooms including 1 hybrid operating room, a radio-therapy vault and accelerator, catheterization lab, endoscopy center, a telemedicine center, and state-of-the-art radiology and laboratory diagnostics equipment. The hospital and our services are designed in a patient-centered approach to ensure that every patient who enters our hospital will receive the highest standard of care and respect.

In this project IHG China will work together not only with our international partners, but also local government, local hospitals and local medical schools to bring high quality healthcare to people in Xiaoshan, Hangzhou and Zhejiang Province.

IHG Shanghai Summit

IHG’s China subsidiary, Yingci IHG, hosted the first ‘China-UK Hospital Operations Management and Innovation Summit’ in Shanghai on 9th June 2018.

The Summit, supported by the British Consulate General in Shanghai, was a great success. High quality Chinese private and public hospital operators shared insights and thoughts about their own experiences and the future of the Chinese healthcare sector with both leading international healthcare operators and major National Health Service (NHS) Hospital Trusts from the United Kingdom who came to Shanghai for the event.

IHG’s Second Medical Mall Project in China in Guangzhou International Medical Port will be the First Medical Mall in Guangdong, Hong Kong & Macao Greater Bay Area

Guangzhou International Medical Port and International Hospitals Group (IHG) have officially entered into a new strategic cooperation after the conclusion of the signing ceremony on May 18th 2018 at the Liby Center to celebrate the official launch of the Guangzhou Medical Mall Project.

Chen Zexin, Director and Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou International Medical Port, Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Guangzhou International Medical Port”), and Adam Williams, Vice Chairman President of the International Hospitals Group (hereinafter referred to as “IHG”), has official signed a strategic cooperation agreement witnessed by the British Consulate General in Guangzhou, the Guangdong Provincial Consul, the Guangzhou municipal Health Planning commission, the Commerce commission leaders and representative from the Li Wan district government along with the joint witness of representatives from both enterprises.

The successful signing of this strategic cooperation establishes the first Medical Mall project in Guangdong, Hong Kong & Marco Greater Bay Area. This is also the second Medical Mall project of that IHG is supporting in China.

An official source in the medical industry stated that the Guangzhou International Medical Port is positioned to be the future international Smart Healthcare City of China and the “One Belt One Road” international healthcare industry platform, gateway and hub, both in terms of geographical location and resource allocation matching have many advantages in Guangdong, Hong Kong & Marco Greater Bay Area.

The Medical Mall project of Guangzhou International Medical Port will further strengthen the Li Wan District healthcare industry, while at the same time accelerating international medical industry projects for Guangzhou, which will greatly enhance the strength of Li wan District and the Guangzhou healthcare industry.

The total investment of the Medical Mall project carried out by Guangzhou International Medical Port and IHG is expected to be around one billion Yuan, the first investment phrase is expected to be around five hundred million Yuan, the total operating scale of the project is around 30,000 square meters, after the construction process is completed a more convenient “one-stop” medical services facility will be able to service the needs of people of Guangdong, Hong Kong & Macao Greater Bay Area, and promote higher level of international healthcare services to all citizens.

According to 2025 financial healthcare forecast, Guangzhou Healthcare industry is expected to exceed one trillion yuan, the healthcare industry will become another important pillar of Guangzhou.
