Celebrating Diplomatic Achievements
Held at The Peninsula London on Hyde Park Corner on 22nd April, the 14th edition of the annual Diplomat of the Year Awards, brought together ambassadors, high commissioners, and diplomats from over 90 countries around the world to honour the remarkable achievements of London’s diplomatic community, highlighting their tireless efforts to enhance the well-being of their nations through diplomacy and international collaboration.
Recognising excellence across 10 categories, including Climate Diplomacy, Diplomatic Contribution in London and specific awards highlighting diplomacy from all continents, winners were nominated by their peers, reflecting their esteemed regard among diplomatic circles.
The event underscored its significance as a pivotal occasion in the capital’s diplomatic calendar, uniting London’s diplomatic community in a celebration of professionalism, dedication, and diplomacy.
As well as being a headline sponsor of the awards, International Hospitals Group were pleased to sponsor two specific awards on the evening, highlighting excellence in African diplomacy as well as young, emerging talent within the diplomatic community.
Honouring Remarkable Contributions in African Diplomacy
Among the distinguished winners on the night was His Excellency Mr Manoah Esipisu, High Commissioner of Kenya, who was honoured with the 2024 Diplomat of the Year from Africa award.
Celebrating individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, diplomatic skill, and dedication to promoting peace, cooperation, and development within the African continent.
Mr Esipisu’s exemplary service and commitment to promoting diplomatic relations between Kenya and the UK have earned him well-deserved recognition.

IHG are also pleased to recognise Mr Perko Mijatovic, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Montenegro and Vice-President of YDL, as the 2024 Young Diplomat of the Year.

The ceremony, masterfully hosted by the BBC’s Adam Fleming, was a testament to the significance of diplomacy in fostering international cooperation and understanding.
Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle, added to the evening’s charm with his engaging presence, interacting with guests and contributing to the lively atmosphere.
