Now in it’s fourteenth year of recognising diplomatic excellence, the IHG 2024 Diplomat of the Year Awards have become a prestigious event that draws diplomats, dignitaries, and leaders from over 80 countries around the world.
A cornerstone event in the diplomatic community, honoring diplomats and heads of mission for their outstanding contributions to diplomacy and international cooperation, the IHG 2024 Diplomat of the Year Awards are a platform to showcase the remarkable work of diplomats across the globe.
The winners of the 2023 IHG Diplomat of the Year Awards included:
- His Excellency Mr Hakim Hajoui, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco as Diplomat of the Year from the Middle East & North Africa.
- Her Excellency Mrs Laura Popescu, Ambassador of Romania for Diplomat of the Year from Europe.
- Her Excellency Mrs Saroja Sirisena, High Commissioner for Sri Lanka as Diplomat of the Year from Asia & Oceania.
- Her Excellency Ms Agnes Oswaha, Ambassador of the Republic of South Sudan as Diplomat of the Year from Africa.
- Her Excellency Ms Sophie Katsarava MBE, Ambassador of Georgia as Diplomat of the Year from Eurasia & the Western Balkans.
- Her Excellency Ms Karen-Mae Hill OBE, High Commissioner for Antigua and Barbuda as Diplomat of the Year from North America & the Caribbean.
- His Excellency Mr Juan Carlos Gamarra Skeels, Ambassador of Peru as Diplomat of the Year from Central & South America.
- Mr Polad Mammadov, Deputy Head of Mission & Counsellor (Political Affairs), Embassy of Azerbaijan as Deputy Head of Mission of the Year.
- His Excellency Mr Vadym Prystaiko, Ambassador of Ukraine for Outstanding Contribution to Diplomacy in London.
- Ms Rawan Al-Faqir, First Secretary, Embassy of Jordan & YDL President as Young Diplomat of the Year.
